Hey—so glad you’re here.

If you would’ve told me back in 2020 that this is what Butter would become, I don’t think I would’ve believed you.

It started pretty simply. My mom and I were planning my niece’s baby shower—very much in our social distancing era—and we decided to make individual charcuterie boxes so everyone could still have something beautiful and personal in front of them.

Nothing about it felt like a “business idea” at the time. We just loved making them. But somewhere between styling those first boxes at the kitchen counter and seeing how much people connected over them… something clicked. So we kept going.

At first it was just a fun weekend thing. Then it became late nights, early mornings, and saying “yes” before we fully had it all figured out. And slowly, over time, Butter grew into what it is now. As we started to grow, we quickly found our footing here in Kansas City.

At first, if I’m being honest, we felt way out of our element.

There were moments where we questioned if we were doing things the “right” way—or if there even was a right way.

But somewhere in that, we realized something important: being different wasn’t the problem—it was the whole point.

So we leaned into it. We stopped trying to fit into what catering was supposed to look like and started building something that felt like us. And we’ve been running with that ever since. We do things differently—and we’re really proud of that.

Grazing Table - Butter KC | Kansas City Catering

What I didn’t expect—but have come to really love—is how much food can shape a moment.

Not just how it tastes, but how it feels.

The way a table comes together. The way people gather around it. The conversations that happen over a second (or third) plate. That’s really what we think about when we’re creating for an event.

You’ll see that in the details.

The fruit scapes that run through the center of a table. The clean, modern styling balanced with something a little more organic. Menus that feel familiar—but just different enough that people notice. Nothing overly complicated. Just done really well, with intention.

As Butter grew, so did our little team.We found the sweetest spot for our kitchen in the West Bottoms, which quickly started to feel like home.

And somewhere along the way, my husband Robert officially joined the team as our event manager—so yes, he finally gets paid for all his hard work now. 😂

Over the years, what started as those small boxes has turned into something we’re incredibly proud of.

We now get to serve hundreds of clients each week here in Kansas City—showers, weddings, celebrations of all kinds—and it still feels just as special as those first few orders.

Because at the core of it, not much has changed.

We still care about creating something beautiful.

We still believe fresh, thoughtful ingredients make all the difference.

And we still see every event as something personal—not just another date on a calendar.

If you’ve been with us since the early days—you already know how much that means to us.And if you’re new here, I’m really glad you found us.Truly.

We’d love the opportunity to create something for you and your people—something that feels easy, beautiful, and worth gathering around. We’d love to set the table for you.

Xo, The Butter Team
