HAVE QUESTIONS?
Booking + Planning
How far in advance should I book?
Great question! We recommend reaching out as soon as you know you’ll need catering. Our calendar tends to fill quickly—we’re already booking into 2027—so the earlier, the better.
What is required to secure my date?
A 50% retainer is required to secure your date. The remaining balance is due 10 days prior to your event.
Do you have a minimum order?
We do—our minimum guest count is 30. Planning something smaller? Our catering trays are perfect to mix + match for more intimate events.
How does the ordering process work?
We keep things as simple as possible—most items can be ordered directly through our website. For more custom or full-service events, just reach out. We’ll create a proposal tailored to you, and you can make any adjustments along the way. Once your menu and date are set, we’ll collect your retainer and officially get you on the calendar. The week of your event, we’ll reconnect to finalize all the details.
Can you help me choose a menu?
Absolutely! We’re always down to talk food. Send us a message with a few details about your event and let us know you’d like some guidance—we’ll send ideas your way.
HAVE QUESTIONS?
Menu + Customization
Can I customize my menu?
Absolutely—if you can dream it, we can probably plate it. 😉 From open-fire feasts to fully custom bride + groom favorites, we’ve done it all. At Butter, everything is rooted in creating custom experiences—so if you have an idea, we’d love to hear it.
What are your most popular menu items?
Right now, our tomato bruschetta and spin dip are always client favorites. Recently, we added sliders to our 2026 menu—and they’ve quickly become a standout. The turkey club is inspired by the West Clubber @ Grinders, featuring candied bacon, garlic aioli, and cheddar cheese. So good.
Do you accommodate dietary restrictions or allergies?
We do. We currently offer vegetarian options and some vegan-friendly items. While we do our best to accommodate allergies, we operate in a shared kitchen environment, so we cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free space.
Do your menus change seasonally?
Yup! We’re always updating our menu to reflect the seasons and what’s trending in Kansas City.
How many items should I choose for my event?
Our “Create Your Own” menu lets you curate a spread that fits your event perfectly.
Pick 3 — Ideal for smaller, come-and-go gatherings
Pick 4 — Our most popular option; perfect for meetings, open houses, and more
Pick 5 — Great for cocktail hours and heavier appetizer-style events
HAVE QUESTIONS?
Service Options
What’s the difference between drop-off and full-service catering?
Drop-Off — a simple, streamlined option. Your menu is prepared and styled on 16" catering trays and delivered ready to go. Our team will set everything in place, and when it’s time to serve, you can remove the lids or restyle as desired.
Full Service — includes complete setup, styling, staffing, and cleanup.
What does full-service include?
Full Service is the whole shebang—setup, styling, staffing, and cleanup. While we don’t bus tables, we do take care of cleaning up the food display.
Do you provide staff for events?
We do! Our Butter team is ready to support your next event. All of our menus are served buffet-style and are self-serve, but with Full Service, our staff will be onsite to keep the food display clean, replenish items as needed, and handle breakdown and cleanup of the food table.
HAVE QUESTIONS?
Presentation + Setup
What is a “fruit scape”?
Our signature fruit scape is an artful display of fresh fruits and vegetables, thoughtfully styled throughout your table. Think cascading grapes, layered citrus, and intentional placement that brings color, texture, and movement to the entire setup—it’s where our love for food and styling truly comes to life.
+Fruit scape is included with our Full Service.
What is included with styled trays?
Styled trays = no extra work for you. Everything arrives beautifully arranged—just pop the lid and enjoy. We add thoughtful color and styling to make each tray feel a little extra.
Do grazing tables include styling and setup?
Our grazing tables are offered in two styles:
Flat Lay — just as it sounds. A beautifully styled, flat layout of charcuterie created on butcher paper. Everything is designed to be disposable, making cleanup easy once the event is over. Our team handles all styling onsite before we leave, but staffing is not included.
Lux Graze — the full experience. Styled onsite using our trays, boards, and risers, our team stays throughout your event to maintain the display, replenish items as needed, and handle cleanup at the end.
Can I choose my display style (modern, rustic, etc.)?
Oh yes! We currently offer four styling options:
Modern — Clean and elevated. Using our white acrylic risers and trays, we create a look where the food truly shines.
Pink — Girly, bold, and a team favorite. Hot pink acrylic risers and trays create a fun, statement-making setup.
Rustic — Warm and organic. Wood accents, trays, and risers bring a natural, relaxed feel to your table.
Your Own — Have something in mind? We love collaborating with clients to create a look that’s completely custom.
Do you provide plates, napkins, and serving ware?
These are not included, but we’re happy to add disposable options upon request.
If you’re looking for elevated plates, napkins, and serving ware, we recommend our friends @ Good Stuff China. Tell them Butter says hello.

more Butter questions
What makes Butter different?
We’re a boutique catering brand—which is a fun way of saying we don’t do things the typical way. No cookie-cutter menus, no corporate playbook—just really good food and styling done our way. Our menus are always evolving with what’s trending, while still keeping the classics everyone loves.
Butter is also a family thing. It started in 2020 as a weekend hobby with my mom and has grown into a full business—with my husband, Robert, now keeping the event side running smoothly.
At our core, we’re foodies creating for fellow food lovers. Everything we do is intentional, styled, and designed to feel a little different—in the best way.
Can you help me make my event feel more “elevated”?
That’s what we’re here for. Every day, we help clients take an idea and bring it to life. Food shouldn’t be an afterthought—at Butter, it’s the whole point.
To us, elevated means letting the food shine through thoughtful placement, seasonal fruit scapes that make the table pop, and menu items your guests come back for seconds (or thirds—we don’t judge).
I don’t know where to start—can you help?
Absolutely! Call or text anytime, or click the chat button in the bottom right to connect with our team. We’d love to hear your ideas—or bring a few to the table. We’ve got you.
We always say—food shouldn’t be stressful, it should just be tasty.
